Art 101

This is a drawing of Christmas from Emily's viewpoint. Lately, when looking at her drawings, I've seen the simplicity of a child's thinking. In Emily's mind, Christmas is about Jesus being born and she depicted that with Mary, Joseph (in traditional wardrobe), the baby Jesus (swaddled and smiling) and some really cute sheep. But she also thinks of Santa at Christmas and so that thought is shown with Rudolph flying through the air (red nose and all). What I love is that she combined both thoughts into one picture without there being the issue that these ideas are traditionally not considered compatible. This is a look at her very innocent and real thoughts melded into one. If only we could all be so free thinking and accepting as a child.
