Saturday night while the boys went to their car/truck event, Emily and I went and did some shopping for fall clothing. Emily & Matt's growth spurts this year have made their fall clothes a wee bit short in length.
Emily is still very much a "skirt girl" but I asked her if she wanted to a least try on a pair of jeans. She said "okay" and actually liked them. So, I bought one pair just in case her "liking" of them is short lived. I think the last time Emily wore a pair of jeans she was 4 or 5 years old.
On Sunday morning, she surprised her dad by being dressed in them for church (our church picnic was after the morning service). He was surprised!
One of the other things we shopped for was a pair of high heels for me. Emily is constantly telling me I need high heels. I told her I do have them but she said "wedge heels don't count". So, I surprised her by taking her to a shoe store to help me pick out my fall heels. One thing I've always known about Emily is she loves shoes that sparkle. On this shopping trip, she made sure to let me know that there is no age exception for wearing sparkly shoes. In the end, I bought two pair of heels because it was just impossible to choose between the two.
Emily is very excited that I finally have high heels - not wedges! She was a little disappointed that I didn't wear them Sunday to church but I was dressed to be able to go to the church picnic after and high heels and parks don't mix......although Emily does want me to be wearing heels poolside next summer. Funny girl!
