Today's the Day!!

Its today! We will be leaving the house late this morning. We are all very excited & ready for vacation.

Remembering Our First Cruise

As we get ready for our cruise, it is hard not to remember the first cruise we went on. It was three years ago that we went to St. John's Canada. Matt was only 2 and Emily 5. We celebrated my 40th birthday on that cruise.....we'll be back 3 days before I turn 43. We had such a great time and can't wait to create new memories on this cruise. Bahamas here we come!!!!

Count Down Until Vacation

2 and a half days until we sail away...as Matt would say, "Yeah, baby!!"

Hmmmm...does this remind you of someone?

When I saw this gorilla snoozing with a little lean going on, I laughed and told the kids do you know who that reminds me of???? Papa Joe. Dad, I can still see you sleeping in the wooden rocker, the chair on the porch, the couch, the recliner and there was the occasional church pew snooze. C'mon you know your laughing at this! He was a very sweet gorilla. Love ya dad!

Day at the Zoo

We spent another wonderful day at the Bronx Zoo. The weather was absolutely beautiful. The kids have really come to enjoy the times we have spent there. This visit included a trip to the see the buffalo, world of birds, tigers, bears (polar & grizzly), reptile house (Emily's favorite), the gorillas, monkey house, butterfly garden and seals. Of course, no trip to the zoo is complete without a ride on the carousel and shopping in the gift store. After our time there, we headed to Tarrytown, NY to "tour" the town, get some dinner and coffee. The kids even got some time to play at a playground next to the water. I love these family times together and hope that the kids remember these times when they are older.

Matthewisms

After walking around the Bronx Zoo for quite some time, Matthew asked if we could "get something cold and refrishing" - that would be refreshing. We fulfilled his request.

A Boy & His Legos

To say Matt is obsessed with his Legos is an understatement. When I walked in his room the other morning, I found a brigade of Lego vehicles lined up across his bedroom floor. It was so cute I had to take a picture. His obsession though has become my headache when it comes to trying to navigate his room in the dark and then there are the days I want to vacuum - UGH! Needless to say I work it out. I haven't sucked up any into the vacuum or had too many Lego imprints left on the bottom of my feet - now that's a plus.

Saturday in Morristown, NJ

The last Saturday in July the weather was beautiful so we decided to spend some time "touring" another NJ town - Morristown. We did a lot of walking but it was fun. Matt enjoyed playing in the town fountain - his clothes showed it, totally drenched. Of course, a trip to a town isn't a trip without checking out the train station and the fire station (not pictured). We took the long way home, found some amazing coffee and had a really great day together.

Cruise Nail Polish

You know Emily is excited about going on the cruise when she starts coming up with nail polish combinations for the event.

Here she had me paint her nails in the pattern of yellow and pink. Reason - the cruise theme for the kids is Nickelodeon so the yellow is for Sponge Bob and the pink is for his friend Patrick.

The question is how many other combinations will she come up with (and I'll have to paint) before the actual cruise.

Yesterday when we were in the car heading home from lunch, we were listening to the radio and the song by Eminem (the rappper) and Rhianna came on. Emily wanted us to change the station because "I don't like Eminem". Dave told her well this is the song that has the girl Rhianna singing in it. She said, "Oh, okay". Then Matt says, "Is it red or green?" So, there I am in the passenger seat trying to figure out what he meant when it hit me ---- can you figure it out? He was wondering which M&M it was the red or green one - after all those are the M&M's they always show in the candy commercials. Hilarious. I laughed out loud when I figured it out, then I had to explain it to Dave seeing he didn't hear Matt's comment.

Oh, the picture was taken one morning before camp. Prior to my getting the camera he had on kid's garden gloves while he was riding his bike. Gotta love the outfit - bike helmet, pj's, white socks and camouflage slippers. I wish I would have gotten the picture with the gloves on...it was a priceless look.
