Christmas Bulletin Board

This is the bulletin board created for the Christmas season. The tile says "Jesus is the Gift". I was able to have a member of the church who is a woodworker make the cross out of balsa wood so it is very "real" looking. Very pleased with the end result and the message it presents.

Proud of Our Veterans

I appreciate the fact that our school district does not let our kids have Veteran' day off and actually takes that day to talk about and honor those who have served our country.

Emily came home the week prior to the holiday with a star that she was to write a family veteran's name on. Okay, if you know Emily a simple star will not do (wonder where that comes from) ...so we headed to the craft store for special paper and stickers to use in her tribute to Papa Joe.

Emily was very proud of her creation. Oh, Papa Joe it is going to be coming to you for you to keep as a memento created by your granddaughter.

Thank you dad and all other family members who served in the military both in times of war and times of peace. Thank you for fighting for our freedom!

New Pajamas

Matt was thrilled when we went to get these fireman pj's one day after school. A friend of mine had been looking at the Carter's website, saw these and forwarded me the link. Fortunately, our local store had them in stock. Now, the reason this was such a great thing is because Matthew has been wearing his 4T fireman pj's he got from Carter's which he has refused to let them go of even though the pants were floods and the long sleeves came half way up his forearm. Getting these pj's allowed us to put the other ones to rest. He was very happy to get fully equipped in his pj's - his helmet and fireman rain boots completed the outfit. Of course, a fireman cannot be without his trusty Dalmatian, Matt has Sparky. Thank you again Jen for helping keep Matt's love for firefighting alive even while asleep.

Hibachi

We have kind of started a tradition in our family that special occasions can be celebrated with a Hibachi style dinner. On our cruise, that is the one dinner we did "out" altogether. Emily requested an umbrella in her drink because the hibachi place locally does that. Thankfully the hostess was thrilled to comply and actually brought her extra umbrellas that they made into hair ornamentation for her. Whenever we do hibachi, we get noodles and lately the kids have wanted to share eating noodles with us as you can see in the picture of Dave & Emily. Matthew and I were also participating in this eating experience. It was such great food and such great fun. The best part of the meal was the green tea ice cream...yummy!

A Little Risky Business

We found Matthew performing his interpretation of the "Risky Business" dance while watching a SpongeBob video on the computer where they spoof the dance. As you can see, Matt was very in the moment. At least, he was fully clothes in his pajamas.
